Drew Meyersieck

Since joining California Strategies in 2016, Andrew has developed a strong understanding of California’s political climate and legislative process. Among other things, he has worked on major ballot initiatives, legislative analysis, research, and client crisis management.

Drawing from his experience working in the State Assembly, Andrew engages directly with clients, including a number of major technology companies and start-ups based in the Greater Bay Area and Silicon Valley – home to some of the most disruptive companies from recent years.  He has worked with a number of these companies on developing strategy, legislative tracking, bill analysis, and public outreach to both community and government representatives.

Additionally, he has helped outreach strategy for Future of Work and FinTech companies, advocated for access to alternative healthcare services,  and organized product demonstrations for innovative education platforms. His other experiences include bill and amendment proposals, education about the legislative process and the development of personal relationships between clients and key individuals in the Capitol.

Andrew is also involved with local and regional policy; He works with city councils, boards of supervisors and regulatory agencies in major cities, including San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland and Berkeley. His body of work includes issues surrounding transportation, micro-mobility, technology, privacy, labor/future of work, public safety and local business taxes.

He currently works with a global life-sciences trade association to navigate the complex governmental frameworks in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. Utilizing his relationships with Bay Area cities, he advocates for STEM education funding in San Francisco and for increased commercial laboratory zoning in the city and county.  Drew has also been involved in major business tax overhauls San Francisco has considered over the past 4 years.

Additionally, he helped secure a permit for one of the first dockless scooter pilot programs in the nation, which serviced the City of San Francisco.  Beyond the pilot program, Drew has helped lay the legislative groundwork for alternative transportation modes across the Bay Area

In addition to local policy work, Andrew has developed and participated in community outreach strategies, which have become increasingly important in furthering clients’ goals – particularly at the local level.  He works with groups ranging from neighborhood associations and merchant groups to non-profits, public safety groups, law enforcement and other stakeholders around the Bay Area.

Andrew is a proud Eagle Scout and Bay Area native, currently living in Oakland, California. He attended UC Davis, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications.
