Jesse Cuevas is an Associate with California Strategies who specializes in agriculture, energy, the environment, transportation, resources, and water. Cuevas has over a decade of experience working in state government and the legislature. He has built a reputation for understanding complex policy and navigating federal, state, and local government.
Prior to joining California Strategies, Cuevas worked as a Chief Consultant for the California State Assembly Committee on Accountability and Administrative Review where he analyzed policy proposals pertaining to rulemaking, procurement, real estate, government spending, efficiency, and accountability.
Cuevas spent several years within the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR). Most notably as Chief Deputy Director, overseeing DPR’s day-to-day activities including its budget, legislation, and rulemaking. While at DPR, Cuevas gained experience in pesticide registration, enforcement and licensing, environmental monitoring, risk assessment, worker safety, and integrated pest management.
Earlier in his career, Cuevas was the Legislative Director for former California Assemblymember Henry T. Perea. Cuevas was instrumental in helping to advance significant legislation in the energy, environmental, transportation, and water arenas.
Cuevas attended the California State University, Sacramento where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies. He was raised in Nicolaus and currently resides in Sacramento.
