Marshall Anderson

Senior Associate

Marshall Anderson is a Senior Associate in the San Diego office of California Strategies LLC. where he brings a wide breadth of public affairs experience, including expertise in land use policy, non-profit operations, and campaign management. Before joining California Strategies LLC., Marshall served as Vice President of the Downtown San Diego Partnership, a 501c6 nonprofit organization that supports development and stimulates economic growth in San Diego’s urban core. There, he oversaw operations of the Government Affairs and Economic Development Department, successfully advocating for several large-scale civic projects and local and state legislation.

Marshall brings his extensive network of elected offices at the local, state, and federal levels, including a wealth of contacts and institutional knowledge to the San Diego office. Prior to the Downtown Partnership, Anderson worked at the County of San Diego Board of Supervisors as a policy aide handling a variety of subjects including land use, environment, and grants administration. In addition, Marshall acted as the Director of City Council Affairs for the Mayor of the City of San Diego where he was tasked with facilitating working relationships with the nine councilmembers and their staff. Through this experience, Anderson has garnered a unique understanding of intra-governmental workings and district-specific issues and projects throughout the region.

Anderson has also worked on several political campaign assignments, and has experience creating and managing political action committees. Marshall brings a strong strategic knowledge of field science, team management, and graphic design, providing a one-stop-shop for client campaign needs.

Marshall is an active civic volunteer, serving on the City of San Diego’s Mission Bay Park Committee, Board of Library Commissioners, and the People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) Advisory Board. He previously served as Board Vice President of the San Diego Small Business Alliance (BID Alliance), California Downtown Association Board of Directors, and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Young Leaders Board.

Marshall hails from San Diego where he attended The Bishop’s School before receiving his B.A. from Pitzer College, a member of the Claremont College Consortium. Marshall has received several honors including the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce ‘Jack of All Trades’ award and Our City Magazine’s ‘Who’s Next?’ award. In his free time, Marshall can usually be found reading, hiking, or fishing from his kayak.
