At California Strategies, Jonathan Muñoz works with clients focused on plotting a course for positive legislative outcomes. His successful record of accomplishment draws upon his extensive experience in the State Senate and Assembly where he has nurtured key relationships with members and staff on both sides of the aisle. His legislative acumen is complimented by his years of experience as a proven communicator where he has honed his skills as a State Senator’s Communication Director, a Capitol Director in the Assembly, a State Government Relations Manager for California Life Sciences and Legislative and Communications Coordinator for the California Police Chiefs Association.

Prior to his work at California Strategies, Jonathan worked in the office of State Senator Patricia C. Bates (R – Laguna Niguel) as Communications Director. Here, he maintained close relationships with key members of the media and drafted all forms of communications for the Senator’s Office, including social media posts and quarterly newsletters. He also managed the correspondence between the Senator and constituents by working with the Senator’s district staff.

Before his time in the State Senate, Jonathan worked as the State Government Relations Manager for California Life Sciences (CLS), a member organization focused on healthcare, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. In this capacity, Jonathan supported the association’s government relations team. In this role he tracked relevant legislation and managed CLS’s positions and lobbyists on identified legislation. He also participated in healthcare policy strategy meetings as directed by the Vice President or Sr. Director of State Government Relations.

Leading up to his service for CLS, Jonathan served as Capitol Director for Assemblymember Tyler Diep, in the 72nd Assembly District where he served as lead staff for the Vice-Chair on the Committees of Appropriations, Housing and Community Development, and the Committees on Public Safety, Labor and Employment. He also supervised and managed capitol office staff, personnel, and administration responsibilities.

Jonathan earned his Bachelor of the Arts, in Politics at the University of San Francisco and is fluent in Spanish.
