At California Strategies & Advocacy LLC, Jonathan advises clients on navigating California’s legislative and political landscape to achieve strategic policy objectives. He is recognized for his thoughtful, results-driven approach shaped by extensive experience in the California State Legislature, where he developed strong working relationships with members, staff, and stakeholders across the political spectrum. Jonathan brings more than a decade of experience in state politics, with a background spanning communications, policy development, and government affairs.

Before joining California Strategies & Advocacy, Jonathan served as Communications Director for Senator Patricia C. Bates (SD 36, Laguna Niguel), where he developed communication strategies, built productive relationships with key media outlets, and curated messaging efforts aimed at highlighting the Senator’s policy priorities.

During his time with California Life Sciences (CLS), Jonathan held the role of State Government Relations Manager where he supported legislative and regulatory advocacy on behalf of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, contributing to efforts at the intersection of innovation, public policy, and industry engagement.

Earlier in his career, Jonathan also served as Capitol Director for Assemblymember Tyler Diep (AD 72, Westminster), where he supervised legislative staff, and helped advance the member’s policy agenda. Prior to that, he worked as Legislative and Communications Coordinator for the California Police Chiefs Association (CPCA), supporting statewide advocacy efforts on behalf of California’s 332 municipal police departments.

Jonathan is an alumnus of the Capitol Fellows Program, where he served as an Assembly Fellow from 2016 to 2017. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Latin American Studies from the University of San Francisco (USF).
